What is a low voltage transformer? (March 09, 2004) |
| |
A transformer is a device that changes voltage. A low voltage transformer is an electrical device that transforms 120 volts (line voltage or primary side) into 12 volts or 24 volts (low voltage or secondary side). Usually, it is made by winding two wires around an iron core with one wire connected to the primary side and the second wire connected to the secondary side. In the case of halogen or xenon lights transformers, for countries in North America and some others, the primary voltage is 110V/120V AC60Hz and secondary voltage of 12V. In Europe and some other countries operate on 220V/230V/240V AC50Hz and secondary voltage of 12V. |

What is the difference between conventional & electronic transformers? (March 09, 2004) |
| |
A conventional transformer is also known as an electromagnetic transformer. It is heavy and large consisting of an iron core and sets of wire. In contrast, an electronic transformer is smaller in size and consists of an inverter and other electronic components that allow the reduction in size of the transformer. Being smaller in size, an electronic transformer is also lighter and easier to handle and install compared with the conventional one. Besides, electronic transformers are much more energy efficient, with efficiency of 98% and above compared to conventional transformers which are only about 55%. |

Could Wang House transformers work with dimmers? (March 09, 2004) |
| |
Most Wang House transformers are compatible with both trailing edge and leading edge dimmers. For those with regular dimming function, when used with trailing edge dimmer, it is dimmable from low to full load and when used with leading edge dimmer, it is dimmable at full load only. On the other hand, customers could choose our transformers come with advance dimming function. This means that the transformers are dimmable from low to full load with both trailing edge and leading edge dimmers.
